jvfennersbd1Nine Digswell artists: Sarah Bellisario, Debbie Bent, Amanda Bloom, Jane Glynn, Christine Harrison, Abu Jafar, Lizzy Lane,  Helen Mason and John Vincent ran free drop-in workshops over the weekend of 1st and 2nd November to celebrate The Day of the Dead with a Big Draw.  The public were invited to join the artists to explore the theme through a wide range of drawing and other art activities including: mosaic, painting, shadow animation, wire sculpture, felting, mask making and a night time clay firing.  The artists were delighted with the response from visitors, and that everybody was happy to have a go at all the activities, which were thoughtfully adapted to suit all ages and abilities.  Thanks are due to Letchworth Heritage Foundation for supporting the events as part of their Fire and Fright Autumn Festival.

All the feedback was extremely positive.  Here’s a sample:

“Lovely opportunity to bring kids over and expose them to physical mark making (rather than on a screen!)
Also reawakened my interest in drawing and painting.  Really enjoyed the experience.”

“It’s a pleasure being in the company of people who are interested, enthusiastic and approachable.”

“Open studios at Fenners with remarkable artists are by far the best activities for families we have come across in Letchworth.  Thank you.”

” We had a fantastic time . . . . My husband drew for the first time in twenty years.”
