Digswell Arts Trust fellow, Miche Follano, has been selected as one of the successful artists awarded an explore residency and has created a 10m site-specific installation that responds to the now derelict Spode factory site. Her installation entitled “Clocking Off” looks at the loss of 367 highly skilled workers originally employed by Spode.
The British Ceramics Biennial is a prestigious cultural event taking place in Stoke on Trent from 28th September to 10th November 2013. This six-week long festival will present work from the UK’s leading contemporary ceramic artists in a series of new exhibitions and special events across the city, embracing the heritage of Stoke on Trent as the home of British ceramics, and celebrating the city’s creative edge as an intenational centre of excellence in contemporary ceramics.
Other artists included in the residency include Phoebe Cummings, Holly Corfield Carr, Stephen Dixon, Monica Patuszynska, Megan Randall, Grant Aston, Jane Cairns, Fay Jenkinson, Anne Laycock, Kim Norton, Naomi Robinson, Jill Shaddock and Keith Varney.
