What we do
Digswell Arts Trust’s Community Art Project connects schools and local organisations with practising artists to deliver accessible, high-quality creative workshops across Welwyn, Hatfield.
Working closely with each partner, we assess the needs of the group and match them with a suitable artist from the Digswell Arts community. Workshops can be tailored to support curriculum themes, community engagement, wellbeing, fundraising, or public-facing creative outcomes.

What we offer
Digswell Arts Trust can support:
Creative workshops in schools and community settings
Artist-led assemblies, talks and Q&A sessions

Short creative activities for art clubs, youth groups, family hubs, eldercare centres and local organisations
Supporting access to the arts
The project is designed to make creative opportunities more accessible. Where needed, Digswell Arts Trust may fully or partly subsidise workshop costs. If a school or organisation has access to its own arts, enrichment or community budget, we can also explore a co-funded approach.
Artist-led workshops
Each workshop is shaped around the needs of the partner organisation. This may include themes such as nature, identity, local history, printmaking, drawing, mixed media, storytelling, or public art.
A Digswell Arts artist will lead the session, bringing professional creative experience into the classroom or community space.
Community co-creation projects
Digswell Arts Trust also supports longer community projects where artists work directly with local groups to create shared creative outcomes.
These projects may run over 2–6 weeks and could result in:
- Public murals
- Group exhibitions
- Digital storytelling
- Printed zines
- Community artworks
- Creative showcases
Co-creation gives participants a sense of ownership and helps strengthen local connections through art.
