Digswell Artist Allistair Covell will be showing his wool textile artwork ‘Digital Stitch’ during the London Design Festival 2015 at the London Welsh Centre from the 18th – 25th September 2015 as part of the Cambrian Mountains Wool International Design Challenge 2015 touring exhibition.
‘Digital Stitch’ is a wool textile artwork installation that has been specially created for the Challenge in collaboration with the internationally renowned textile print company Think Positive and features an image of one of Allistair’s stitched paintings digitally printed on to the Welsh wool.
The Cambrian Mountains Wool International Design Challenge 2015 is an initiative of the Cambrian Mountain Farmers CIC, supported by its patron, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. The Challenge and the exhibition was created to raise awareness about the unique, natural and sustainable benefits offered by wool for the creative and consumer industries.
It was in July 2015 that Allistair was very fortunate to meet HRH Prince Charles at the Private View of the exhibition at Nanteos Mansion in Aberystwyth, Wales. HRH Prince Charles was extremely interested in Allistair’s contribution to the Challenge and spoke to him at length about the concept behind the work, the digitally printing process and Allistair’s practice.
