After completing her Contemporary Textile degree In Shetland last year, Connie Flynn was artist in residence at Sumburgh Lighthouse, Shetland for the month of June. During the residency she researched the social history aspect of the keepers and their families who stayed, worked and lived at the lighthouse
Connie recorded her findings of quotes and stories in her sketch book, this progressed into constructing textile wall hangings, each one decorated with hand stitched techniques to represent these tales.
In April this year, Finders Keepers – Tales in Textiles! was exhibited in Shetland Museum. It is now touring and will be shown at Rayleigh Windmill, Essex, Sept 11th – 2nd Oct 2016. All Welcome!
Please note the opening times, Wed 10-1pm and Sat & Sun 1 -4pm.
