Digswell Arts fellow Faye Munroe will be showing her new collection of ceramics structures at Art In Clay, the renowned ceramic craft show that takes place in the beautiful grounds of Hatfield House.
Art in Clay is taking place on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of July 2015 and will be showcasing a wide range of ceramics and pottery to the public and collectors of contemporary craft.
“Celebrating 21 years of Art in Clay at Hatfield House in 2015, this show has now become one of the most important ceramic events in Europe. The makers range from young imaginative students and relative newcomers to leading National and International makers. Some of the best ideas for ceramics in interior and garden design will be on display for you to admire and buy.” [Art In Clay]
Faye’s new collection of ceramic works, entitled ‘Structures’, is an observational response to the architectural forms created by the shapes of abandoned buildings and the traces of life that once dwelled there. Exploring this concept and the theory in her practice, Faye uses different clay bodies to create varied textures on the clay surface.
Working extensively with heavily grogged clay and varied porcelain stains, the final outcome of each piece is then determined on the reaction that occurs during the firing process and how this manipulates the shape and form.
