After completing her Contemporary Textile degree In Shetland last year, Digswell Alumni Connie Flynn was artist in residence at Sumburgh Lighthouse, Shetland for the month of June. During the residency she researched the social history aspect of the keepers and their families who stayed, worked and lived at the lighthouse. Connie recorded her findings of quotes and stories in her sketch book, this progressed into constructing textile wall hangings, each one decorated with hand stitched techniques to represent these tales. Now the work is complete, Finders Keepers – Tales in Textiles! will be exhibited in Shetland Museum from 2nd – 28th April 2016.

Connie will be talking about her experiences of studying and living in Shetland at 3pm on Sun 15th May 2016 at Braintree Museum, Essex as part of the Warner Textile Archive’s annual Textile Fair. For more information – http://www.warnertextilearchive.co.uk/whats-on/textile-fair/

Death Dreams & Desire

Death Dreams & Desire

We are a collective of five working artists who meet regularly to share and discuss the progress of our work. Through doing so we have identified a number of common themes; memory, loss, re-emergence and return. These are expressed by each of us through a variety of concepts and techniques. Our practices include drawing, painting and printmaking; sculpture; photography and film;
documentation, installation and live art.
