Jo Atherton Digswell Arts TrustFormer Digswell Arts Trust Alumni and Trustee, Jo Atherton has been selected to speak at TEDxBedford 2014. One of 16 people invited to share their ‘ideas worth spreading’, Jo will be talking about her unique flotsam weaving in relation to the 2014 theme, ‘by Design’.

She explains – ‘I am delighted to have been chosen to speak at this year’s TEDxBedford event. I will be exploring some of the themes behind my flotsam tapestries and how one can make ‘design’ based decisions when working with unpredictable materials arriving by ever-changing tides.’

TEDxBedford 2014 is taking place on the afternoon of the 15th November 2014 at The South Bank Arts Centre, Bedford College.

What are TED talks?

TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.

How do I book tickets?

Tickets will be available at £35 each and will include a buffet lunch, morning and afternoon refreshments.

Tickets are strictly limited under the TEDx licence and will go on sale shortly after the speakers are announced at the end of June 2014. Stay tuned to the TEDxBedford website or Twitter feed to ensure you don’t miss out!

Please note that there will be a limited number of concessionary tickets made available courtesy of our sponsors. If you are interested in being considered for these, please email tedxbedford@gmail.com.
