Mary Down and Sally Tyrie selected for UH Eastern Approaches

Forge Print Group members Mary Down and Sally Tyrie have had works selected for ‘Eastern Approaches’, the annual open submission showcasing selected artists work from the Eastern region and organised by the University of Hertfordshire. Selectors this year were Niki Braithwaite, Teresa Grimes and Simeon Nelson.

The exhibition runs from 5 dec – 12 Jan at the Museum of St. Albans

Culpable, Sally TyrieSally Tyrie’s selected work ‘Culpable’ is a monoprint collage and stitch on found book pages. Sally’s work responds to research on the victorian naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace. Originally made for’ Wallace 100′ the prints seek to ‘give voice’ to his ideals, hopes and fears along with ideas to do with history and censorship. 'Easter Island - Moai' and 'Not Waving but Drowning', Mary Down Mary Down has had two works selected: ‘Easter Island – Moai’ and ‘Not Waving but Drowning’, both are one off relief prints with a framed size of  73 x 53 cms.
