We had a fun productive time in Saturday’s Monoprint and Mark making workshop at the Forge Studios.
We were all astounded how much was produced.
Led by Print Member and Fine Artist Sally Tyrie, this day was an opportunity to explore multi-layered printing using the expressive and painterly process of monoprint.
We loved seeing the results as prints came out of the press and were revealed.
With Monoprint often it’s the aspects you think are less likely to work that take you by surprise. We explored ‘ghost’ marks and the use of found objects. We also covered how to treate the roller as a useful drawing tool, making the most of chance accidents and incidental marks. It was fun in the afternoon seeing how some of the less successful prints could be transformed with additional print layers.
The next Print Workshop at the Forge Studios is – Lino Cut Reduction Printing with Katharine Green – spaces available
