‘Open Access’ sessions for Printmakers has a new day.
Anyone with previous print experience wishing to use our Printmaking workshop at the Forge Studios, Digswell can book a whole day or half day session on an ad hoc basis.
Days available for Open Access Print sessions are; Mondays and Saturdays
Whole day – 10.30 – 4.30 – fee is £25.00
Half day – 10.30 – 1.30 or 1.30 -4.30 – fee is £15
Those using the facilities for the first time would also need to do a Health and Safety Induction for an additional fee of £5.00.
The ‘Forge’ print studio has 2 presses; a very large etching press (AO size ), which is suitable for all printing processes, plus an Albion Press (A2 size bed).
We are currently operating as a ‘Safe’ print studio so there is no chemical based etching equipment set up.
Other equipment includes a wash bath and blotting area for preparing dampened paper also a large drying rack.
Sundries and some basic equipment such as rollers are also available to use.
Visiting artists would need to bring their own paper but can use the studio inks for an additional fee of £5.00
Sessions are supervised by Digswell Artist Sally Tyrie and visiting artists would benefit from some assistance with use of equipment where this was needed.
The maximum number in the print room at any one time is kept low, so access to the presses is excellent and there is plenty of space to work.
Previous visitors have commented on the ‘peace of quiet’ of the space as well as the benefit of working in a ‘vibrant and creative’ studio.

For those needing to brush up their Printmaking skills before working more independently, we also run small and friendly Day Print Workshops at a very reasonable fee. Coming up there are still spaces on the workshop on Saturday 26th March which will focus on methods of Combining Mono-print with Drypoint.
