Paintings by Ella Carty Inspired by Visits to Cornwall

white-circle-by-ella-cartyForge artist Ella Carty has spent a lot of time visiting the south coast of Cornwall in the last year and has been making lots of work inspired by those visits.

‘There’s no doubt that the Cornish landscape is seeping through into my work at the moment. The shapes, textures and colours that i see around me, seem to emerge in these paintings. A visit to Glendurgan Gardens last weekend has inspired me too. Memories of large, undulating organic forms of flora and forna are working their way onto the canvas. Maybe a move away from the paintings i’ve made recently using the horizonal lines of land and sea, to more dynamic and organic shapes is the direction the work will move in. We shall see.’
