Marilyn Middlemiss

Fellowship:  April 1993 – April 1996 Farmhouse

Artform: Painting

Marilyn Middlemiss has been living in Cornwall since 2000 after leaving London. Previous to Cornwall and London Marilyn had lived in Belgium, France and America, having originally grown up in East Yorkshire.

Marilyn is now a partner in an artist led gallery and a practicing artist in Hayle in West Penwith. Recently Marilyn exhibited her work at the Salt Gallery in which the following artist statement was made:

Painting, drawing, installation and sound, with a conceptual origin. The work is minimal and still, the paintings and drawings can be difficult to read and demand time to be spent with them. The sound work relates to the painting practice in that sound is an abstract language as non-representative painting can be. Colour plays an important part in the work and Cornwall inspires with its light and drama. This new work has a strong landscape base, as it is work inspired by the Pool at Hayle
