This spring, 30 professional artists from the two sites of Digswell Arts Trust will be opening their doors to welcome visitors to view their work. The innovative artists specialise in all styles, from painting and drawing, collage and prints to sculpture and stone carving.
At the free events, as well as viewing the studios, visitors will be able to watch demonstrations, find out about classes, and maybe even purchase a unique work of art, with prices to suit any pocket. Children can join in some fun activities to get their creative juices flowing.
Digswell Arts Trust is a thriving arts community with two sites based at Digswell (near Welwyn) and Letchworth and is now in its 62nd year, one of the oldest of its kind in the country. The charity, set up to foster emerging artists by providing affordable studio space, has an illustrious history: Henry Moore was a keen supporter, and internationally famous alumni include the painter Michael Andrews and the potter Hans Coper. Current artists (called ‘Fellows’) have exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Mall Galleries, and The London Original Print Fair, and have won or been shortlisted for various awards, including the Contemporary Arts Trust Prize.
