Tutor – Sally Tyrie   http://www.sallytyrie.com

In this 2 day event Digswell Artist Sally Tyrie will be delivering an in depth look at methods of creating Multilayered prints by using an exciting mixture of printing, drawing and mark making methods combining print, collage and stitch. Sally has previously taught this workshop in Australia at Fibre Arts Events and has been invited back in 2020 to Fibre Arts Australia and Stitching and Beyond, in Tasmania, to teach her techniques and approaches.

About the 2 day Workshop – You will start by building up a body of layered drawings and prints using a variety of media, including ink and paint. You will also look at the use of unconventional surfaces to work with, such as book pages, book covers, envelopes and hand made papers. Techniques will include ways of producing multilayered prints and drawings using direct painterly methods as well as ways to capture marks using found objects and stencils. Following an initial lively period of markmaking and printing you will then examine ways to edit, layer and collage the work.

The second half of the workshop will focus on assemblage methods. For instance ways to use hand and machine stitch and matt medium to join, collage, layer and embellish. Your outcome pieces may ether be two dimensional or have a sculptural element, depending on your preference and how you wish to develop your work.

This workshop is suitable for beginners or those with previous experience as group sizes are small and there will be individual coaching and advice throughout.

You will need to bring your own sewing machine on day 2.  Some basic knowledge of your machine is advisable, to make the most of the day. All tools and media are supplied except sewing machines.

You are welcome to sign up for either both days or one of the days, depending on your interest. If you would like to book both days early booking is advisable. The Fee for one day is £65 Inc all materials. If you book both days there is a discounted fee of £115.
