Saturday, January 26th Monoprint and Markmaking – one day course.

Exciting, expressive, colourful multi-layered printing techniques on alternative surfaces, including tissue, book pages and envelopes.

Fee is £65

Saturday, February 9 – 10 – Print, Collage, Stitch – weekend Course

With Sally Tyrie

A 2-day event learning methods of creating multilayered prints by using an in-depth and exciting mixture of printing, drawing and mark making methods combining print, collage and stitch.

Fee is £120

Saturday, March 9 – 10 – Reduction Lino Cut – Weekend Course

With Katharine Green

Learn how to create a series of multicoloured Lino prints from intricately cut lino blocks using the ‘reduction’ method and the Albion Press

Fee is £120

Location; All print sessions will be held at the Digswell Arts ‘Forge’ studios, in the fully equipped print workshop, which houses a large etching press and Albion Press. Other facilities include a kitchen and ample on-site parking. The ‘Forge’ is located in Digswell, Herts (near Welwyn) It is 5 minutes drive from the A1M (junc 6) and a 7 minute walk from Welwyn North train station.

All workshops are suitable for beginners and the more experienced.

The teaching is individual due to the small size of each class, so can be tailored to individual needs.

The fee includes all materials such as artists quality printmaking paper and professional inks.

Tea, coffee and cake are also provided.

New ‘Refresher’ Print Sessions available

Digswell Arts ‘Forge’ studios now offers a Refresher Print Day for Artists that have Previous printmaking experience but feel a little rusty.

Whole days or half days available on Thursdays and Saturdays.

This session is suitable for those who have previous experience working independently with printmaking equipment either at college, University or on a Workshop programme, but feel a little rusty.

Assistance, advice and instruction in a variety of Techniques, methods and processes in Printmaking will be on offer

by Digswell Arts printmaker Sally Tyrie, who has been at Digswell arts since 2010 and graduated with an MA with Distinction in 2008.

The day includes a health and safety Induction (for those new to the print room at Digswell Arts)

You are advised to choose 1 –  3 Techniques from the following list

or you may just wish to have advice on how to successfully print from a previously created plate, using our large etching press.

Techniques available;

Lino print / Collagraph Print / Drypoint Etching / Monoprint /

Materials such as paper and ink can be purchased on the day if requested at booking.

Please note; this is a refresher session and if you would like more in-depth instruction it is advised you book onto one of our Group Workshops.

Whilst ongoing support and help is on hand throughout the day, after initial instruction artists are expected to work fairly independently.

Fee for a whole day – (10.30 to 4.30) –  £55
Half day – (10.30 to 1.30/  1.30 to 4.30 ) – £35

About the Tutors

Sally Tyrie is a Fine Artist Printmaker and has been based at the studios since 2009.  She has a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art from Nottingham Trent University and an MA in Fine Art with Distinction from the University of Hertfordshire.  An experienced Art teacher, Sally has worked part time in Schools and Colleges for over 20 years and has a PGCE in Art Education. Courses often feature unique processes she uses in her own work. Sally exhibits her work regularly and her  work can be seen in a number of galleries in the UK. Katharine Green – Guest Fine Artist Katharine Green has had her work selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and her work is represented in a number of regional galleries. A number of her designs have also been published as a group of Fine Art greeting cards with ‘Green Pebble’. Katharine originally studied Illustration at Portsmouth University.   http://www.greenpebble.co.uk/katharine-green-printmaker
