‘Push and the Land’ – Stuart Jones exhibits at Pineapple Black Arts

Digswell Arts Fellows, Stuart Jones. will be showing in this group exhibition of poetic landscapes by upcoming artists in the UK.

Combining observation with an internal interpretation of the landscape, each artist’ abstraction of nature is an attempt to revisit the landscape with a refreshing sense of presence. The line between representation and projection is an attempt to invite and evoke a sense of the world; the expected is revisited with both intense study and a sensibility towards perception.

The use of sometimes unnatural and vivid palettes brings focus to these overlooked or forgotten corners of the landscape, amplified by the artist’s relationship with their subject. Nature isn’t at the mercy of the artist, nor distilled or simplified but a place of potential.

To say the work is purely expressionist, perhaps misses the intention and the complexity of approach; the outside work is filtered through the projections of the artist but also a captured moment – something that is sincerely true and untrue to both perception and observation.
