Digswell Artist Sally Tyrie has had her work titled ‘The Line between’ selected for The Discerning Eye exhibition to be held at the Mall Galleries in November.
‘The exhibition comprises both publicly submitted works and works independently selected by six prominent figures from different areas of the art world: two artists, two collectors and two critics. Each section is hung separately to give each its own distinctive identity. The impression emerges of six small exhibitions within the whole.
‘It provides an unusual opportunity for works by lesser-known artists to be hung alongside contributions from internationally recognised names.’Sally is based at the Forge Studios and makes two and three dimensional drawings primarily using printmaking, collage and machine stitch. She says of her work that she ‘has become increasingly drawn to methods of deconstruction and reconstruction using unconventional surfaces and is interested in how this can have its own dialogue and meaning.’ Her work titled ‘The line between’ is part of a new group of works titled ‘In the margin’ using book pages informed by her interest in literature, history and censorship. To find out more about her work see http://sallytyrie.wordpress.com
