The Broadway Gallery in Letchworth is embarking on an ambitious ‘season of photography‘ and series of events to celebrate and coincide with ‘One day this glass will break’, by renowned Artist Cornelia Parker. This Hayward Gallery Touring exhibition of twenty large-scale photogravures explore the artist’s fascination with the physical properties of objects, materials and their histories.

Digswell artists are also exhibiting in this season of photography. Where Land Runs Out, the first solo show by Digswell artist Liz Harrington, who is based at Fenners Studios, features a series of camera less cyanotype images and photograms which focus on transience and the fragility of the natural environment at Shingle Street beach in Suffolk.

Photo Letchworth, an exhibition showcasing work by local artists, who were selected following an Open Call, includes Digswell artist Sally Tyrie who is based at Forge Studios. Selectors were Cassie Beadle (Cob Gallery, London), Anstice Oakeshott (The Photographers Gallery, London) and photographer Chris Frazer Smith. Visitors to the gallery will have the chance of voting for their favourite photograph in this group show – the winner of the public vote will be awarded a £500 prize.

Also showing in the gallery; A Slow Longing Collapse, a solo exhibition by the artist Sofia Albina Novikoff Unger & The Weight of a Tongue sculptural work by Benjamin Cohen.

The exhibitions run from September 21st to December 1st.  Wed – Sat 10am – 5pm / Sun 10am – 4pm.
