In the past year Simon Abbott has made zines illustrating beat poetry, constructed a 6ft collage of dada love poems, painted tables with 60s cocktails and hung an exhibition of collages of undersea adventures. He has printed with A2 collagraph plates and stamped patterns with rubbers. He has discarded hours worth of work, and discovered new techniques when he least expected it.
Simon is currently enjoying exploring the relationship between line and shape in their simplest form; unpacking images to explore the significance of narrative and composition. He will use his time at Digswell to be able to satisfy a relentless need to make marks, whilst illuminating some interesting areas of exploration.
