For Ceramicists

Inside a raku kiln

The facilities on offer to ceramicists at The Fenners include a range of kilns, allowing potters and ceramic artists to achieve a wide range of firing effects in their work. An electric kiln is available for bisque and stoneware firings. A raku kiln is also used in The Fenners, and there is adequate space for building experimental kilns for smoke and pit firings. The diversity of kiln firing on one site, in the heart of Letchworth Garden City in Hertfordshire, is supported by the other equipment available at the site. This includes a large slab roller, clay extruder and dedicated kiln rooms.

Since the Trust took over The Fenners several years ago, many of our Letchworth Fellows have been ceramicists and glass artists.
