Digswell Fellow Sue Leon has been assisting sculptor Simeon Nelson in a commission for the Canal and River Trust’s Arts on the Waterways programme. The commission, Meanwhile Hydrosiren, is a 10m long sculptural boat with a soundscape that will be based on the sounds it picks up in real-time from the river bank. The boat is being built in Southall’s Adelaide Dock and is scheduled for completion and launch at the end of September. It will then be punted up and down a section of the Grand Union Canal in West London for a few weeks in October before forming part of the cultural estate of the Canal and River Trust.
