‘A great success all round’ is the general consensus from all concerned at the Forge Open Studio Event in May.
Cakes and refreshments provided by members and their families were available at the two day event, the proceeds of donations amounted to £325, in aid of Isabel Hospice. We would like to mention the invaluable assistance and support from India Lind, who is working with Sally Tyrie as part of a work experience placement, both leading up to the weekend and on the Saturday.
Over 200 people visited the Forge, many of them for the first time.
We received lots of great feedback from visitors regarding the studios and the art work. Quite a few art works were bought too. Sally Tyrie had lots of enquiries about her Print Workshops and several people have signed to attend in June and July . Details of workshops can be found on the Digswell Arts Site here
We would also like to say a big thank you to our ‘three baristas’ who valiantly manned the cake and refreshments the whole weekend, and who also made cakes!
We are hoping next year to have access to the Orchard, which is adjacent to The Forge, to further enhance the Open Studio Event with activities for children and an opportunity for the public to enjoy the newly planted open space, courtesy of Welwyn Hatfield Council.
Thank you to everyone who put in so much effort in making the studios look great, and also to the visitors who made it all worth while.
